As you enter your bathroom each day, it might seem like a place that is plain and simple with little color and personality. This is a room in the home that usually doesn’t get the attention that it deserves when you’re decorating the other rooms in the home. Fortunately, there are a few creative ways that you can spruce up your bathroom without spending a lot of money.
Scrub Away
If you want the tub, toilet, and sink to look like new without replacing them, then scrub the surfaces with a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and lemon juice. You can also use dish detergent with the peroxide. Let the mixture sit on the surfaces for about 20 minutes, rinsing with warm water until the surface is clean. Use a damp sponge when scrubbing the surfaces for the best results.
Add A Little Paint
Paint goes a long way when you want to add color to a room or you want to change the overall look. Clean the walls or other surfaces that you plan to decorate before applying paint so that it will last longer. You should also remove any old paint that is present. Ideas include painting colorful stripes on the walls or painting pictures on a blank wall, using the surface as a canvas. Match the accessories in the room to the images that you paint as well as the colors that you use. Bring life to the bathroom by using brighter colors like teal or orange.
Organize
Some of the old bottles on your bathroom counter and the empty bottles in your shower can make your bathroom appear cluttered. Remove all of the empty containers as well as items that are old or don’t seem to belong in the room. Get a few small baskets or shelves to make it easier to organize the things that belong together, such as makeup supplies or toothbrushes and toothpaste. When everything is grouped together, it brings an organized look to the bathroom while sprucing up the space at the same time.
Add Accessories
Don’t be afraid to add accessories to the bathroom just because it’s not an area of the home where people tend to spend a lot of time socializing. Hang pictures on the wall, put flowers or other decorations on the shelves and counters, or put a few floating candles in a glass bowl with a few drops of food coloring for a beautiful addition.
Make It Match
If you want to create a modern and sophisticated look in the bathroom, then get accessories, rugs, and other items that are the same color or the same shades. An idea would be to get the toothbrush holder and the dispensers on the counter in the same color and the rugs either a shade darker or a shade lighter. Another option would be to paint the walls a color that you like and get rugs and accent pieces that match the color that you use but with different textures or patterns instead of getting everything in a plain format.
