5 Must-Have Heels Every Woman Needs in Her Closet

You can find high heels in almost every woman’s closet. Some people have a considerable collection, while others stock only the bare minimum. If you are not a fan of high-heeled shoes but know you need them for some occasions, here are five styles you should invest in.

1. Low Heels

There are many times when you may need to dress up an outfit, but high heels are out of the question. During these events, a soft low heeled shoe can be classic but not over the top. A low high-heeled shoe is less than three inches tall. Typically, these types of heels run between one and two inches. The heels can be thin or thick, so there are many configurations to choose from. They are perfect for walking on grass or other soft turfs.

2. Medium

A medium-heeled shoe has a heel between three and four inches tall. They add some height and can be dressed up for work or a night on the town. If someone is not used to walking in high heels but need to wear them occasionally, this medium height offers stability with grace. The style can be seen in sandals to ankle boots.

3. Stilettos

Stilettos are the most famous shape of high heels. They tower at least four inches and often higher. The trademark style is a skinny, spiky heel. These shoes tend to elongate the legs and accentuate the calf muscles. They can be problematic on the balls of the foot if not fitted properly. Stilettos are best suited for formal celebrations, weddings, or evening events. The shoes are made from a variety of materials, colors, and toe styles. Open-toed high heels make great summer shoes, while closed style stilettos are practical during the colder months.

4. Wedges

Wedges are chunky heels that cover the entire bottom of the shoe. The wedge runs from the heel to the toe slowly sloping to the ground. Wedges can give the wearer a feeling of security because of the solid platform. This style is configured into sandals, pumps, and boots. The heel can be made of the same material as the shoe, or colors, fabrics, ropes, and beads can accent the wedge. The style is versatile, and designers have created them for evening parties as well as casual events.

5. Square Heel

A squared-off heel makes for a sturdy platform that is still stylish. The bold heel can handle a fast-paced walk over slightly uneven surfaces without a problem. The square also gives the heel a large cushion to rest on, and it takes some of the weight off the toes. Square heels come in low to high heights and can be found in carefree slip-ons to velvet pumps.

Heels today are made for comfort and style, and they are acceptable for almost every occasion. When pairing shoes with an outfit, you need to match the height and heel with the event. Whether you prefer the lower versions or the stilettos, there is one heel for every comfort level.
